The Department of Culture invites applications from Indian Nationals for award of Scholarships TO Young Artistes For The Year 2005-2006

1. Under this Scheme, a total of 400 Scholarships are awarded each year to Young Artistes in Different cultural fields in (i) Indian Classical Music (ii) Indian Classical Dance (iii) Theatre (iv) Visual Arts and (v) Folk, Traditional and Indigenous Arts.

2. The selected awardees will be required to undergo advanced training on a full-time basis for two years under a reputed Guru/Institute within one month of the award of scholarship.

3. As the scholarships are awarded for advanced training, the candidate should have undergone a minimum of 5 years training with their Gurus/Institutes. The Certificates to this effects in Part II of the Performa duly signed by the present Guru/Institute should be submitted alongwith the application.

4. The Scholarship carries a value of Rs.2000/- per month and is tenable for a period of two years which is not extendable. Artistes in the age group of 18-25 (eighteen to twenty five) years as on 01.04.2005 are eligible to apply.

Scheme for award of Scholarship Stipend to the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates selected for Flying Training upto Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL) standard in various Flying Clubs / Schools during the financial year 2005-2004

Applications are invited from eligible candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes under the above scheme so as to reach the Office of the Director General of Civil Aviation ( Training Section), Technical Centre, Opposite Safdarjung Airport , New Delhi by 30.05.2005

Eligibility

1. Minimum Educational Qualifications : 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics and Physics as subjects

2. Income : Parents’ / Guardians’ income not exceeding Rs.44,500/- per annum for 2004-2005 (attach Certificate of Employer or Competent authority)

3. Age : Between 17 to 20 years as on 01.04.2005

4. Nationality : Indian

5. Training Charges : Flying charges approved by DGCA upto PPL or 60 hrs. whichever is earlier, will be met by the Government

6. Living Expenses : Rs.350/- per month for male candidates and Rs.450/- p.m. for female candidates restricted to a maximum period of 15 months

7. Books : Rs.100/- per annum will be paid for the purchase of books

8. Licence and Medical Examination Fees : Expenditure will be borne by the Govt

9. Travelling Expenses : One single second class train fare at the time of reporting for flying training

10. Number of Scholarships : 40

11. Insurance Premium : Up to the policy value of Rs.10,000/- will be borne by Government during the training period of one year

12. Period of Scholarships :The total period of training will be 24 months ( from the date of joining) or the period actually spent to obtain a Private Pilot’s Licence, whichever is earlier. The continuance of the Scholarship during the period of training will depend upon the satisfactory progress made by the trainees

13. Training Institution :One of the approved Flying Clubs / Institutes to be selected by the Director General of Civil Aviation . A choice may be given by the candidates

14. Agreement : Selected candidates shall have to execute an Indemnity Bond indemnifying the training Institution as well as the Govt.for all possible injuries / accidents / damages for death during the period of training

15. Selection : Initial selection of the candidates will be on the basis of their performance in written test to be conducted at the specified Centres in English,General Knowledge,Maths,Physics & Chemistry

Eligibility :

A. Candidate should be a student of either 1st year of Graduate Engineering Course or 1st year of Master Degree in Geology/Geophysics/M.B.A., pursuing full time course at any I.I.T/University/Institute recognized by the Govt.of.India

B. Candidate should have obtained 60% marks in 12th class for Engg.discipline and in graduation for P.G.Courses as applicable to them or overall grade point average(OGPA) of 6.0 in 10 points scale of gradiing system.

SCHOLARSHIPS

SRDE Educational & Testing Services (SETS) offers one time scholarship of a total amount worth Rs. 1,00,000/- to be distributed among the top 1% rank holders of NAT-UG and NAT-PG .

This is a one time specific offer for the test scheduled on 22nd May 2005 only.

Wherever 1% is in fractions, the number of such scholarship recipients will be rounded off to the nearest higher number arrived at by adding additional fraction value.

The award of scholarship is one time and time bound. The scholarship is non-transferable.

The candidates will receive the amount after submission of necessary filled in documents and verification details. SETS reserves the right to use such data, details and information wherever and whenever it requires. Such details will become the exclusive property of SETS.

The amount will be distributed through crossed cheque in favour of the candidates. In case the management decides to offer the scholarships in person; No TA/DA will be paid. In the event that a designated recipient declines to accept a scholarship, the scholarship shall be offered to the next highest ranked eligible applicant, if any.

SETS does not undertake any liability or responsibility over and above the disbursement of the total value of Rs. 100000/- to NAT-UG and NAT-PG rankers on merit basis.

Only candidates having appeared for NAT-UG or NAT-PG will be eligible for the scholarship. In no case any reason shall be entertained for reasons such as candidates not being able to attend the test or clash of test dates or cancellation of test at a particular city etc. The conduct of test at any one city shall also be concluded as the test being held and hence no claim whatsoever shall be entertained.

Revaluation or screening of the corrected answer sheets is not permitted.

A candidate can appear either in NAT-UG or NAT-PG test based on his/her eligibility. Graduate candidates shall not be entitled for appearing in NAT-UG test. Such candidates shall be disqualified for scholarship offer.

All procedures and terms and conditions of the NAT bulletin have to be followed in spirit and actions. The final decision shall however finally rest with the executive committee of SETS in case of any dispute, ambiguity etc.

The award of scholarship is an initiative of the society without any support from outside. It is an attempt to boost the motivational levels and career aspirations for various candidates at the UG and PG levels. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided to award the scholarships irrespective of the candidates taking admissions in programmes of NAT-UG or NAT-PG participating Institutions or not.

This Scholarship is one time and the payment is also made one time which is intended to be used by the candidates for furthering their studies. No subsequent amount shall be paid in addition to whatever is paid once as share out of 1 % of NAT-UG or NAT-PG awardee candidate in subsequent years/semesters.

Eligibility: A Ph.D degree in any branch of science or in any subject related to the general area of Neuroscience including Psychology.

25 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCHEDULED CASTE / SCHEDULED TRIBE / PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED ENGINEERING STUDENTS ( SCHEME XIV )

As a responsible and socially conscious enterprise, NTPC is offering 25 Scholarships to students belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe/ Physically Challenged categories pursuing full time degree course in Engineering.

ELIGIBILITY – Students belonging to SC/ST/Physically Challenged categories (Visually Handicapped / Hearing Handicapped / Orthopaedically Handicapped ) and pursuing full time degree course in engineering in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics / Telecommunication from a college / university institute recognized by the Govt.Of India and should be in the Third Year in session 2004-2005. Those who have successfully completed the 1st year degree course in 2002-03 and the 2nd year degree course in 2003-04 both in the first attempt only need to apply. They should not be receiving any funancial aid or assistance from any source.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT – The scholarship is admissible from the second year till the final year subject to the condition that the student meets the minimum qualifying criterion for success in each year. The rate of scholarship is Rs.1000/- P.M. . Total 25 scholarships will be granted ( 14 SC, 06 ST and 05 PC )

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PURSUING POST GRADUATE STUDIES (M.A./MS.c.) IN MATHEMATICS

The National Board for Higher Mathematics(NBHM) invites appliations for the grant of Scholarships to students for pursuing studies for M.A./M.Sc., in Mathematics.

Eligibility : Applicants should be motivated students with a good academic record(Ist calss or equivalent grade) at +2 level as well as B.Sc., Students with a B.Sc., degree or awaiting results of the final B.Sc., examination as well as those studying in the final year and are to write their final examination before September 1, 2004 can apply. However, the applicants must fulfil the qualifications prescribed above in the previous examinations.

Applicants should be below the age of 22 years as on January1, 2004. Exceptional cases, however, may be considered on merit.

The Scholarship : Successful candidates will be eligible for a Scholarship of Rs.1200/- per month during the two year of their M.A./M.Sc., course.

Selected students are expected to enroll themselves in an appropriate institution for an M.A./M.Sc., degree in Mathematics. The Scholarships will be paid through the institution which they join. TheScholarships are sanctioned for one year at a time and are renewable at the end of the year, subject to satisfactory progress.

25 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCHEDULED CASTE / SCHEDULED TRIBE / PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED ENGINEERING STUDENTS ( SCHEME XV )

The country’s premier power producer takes on the responsibility for fruitful impact in the cause of SC/ST/Physically Challenged persons. As a responsible and socially conscious enterprise, NTPC is offering 25 Scholarships to students belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe/ Physically Challenged categories pursuing full time degree course in Engineering.

ELIGIBILITY – Students belonging to SC/ST/Physically Challenged categories (Visually Handicapped / Hearing Handicapped / Orthopaedically Handicapped ) and pursuing full time degree course in engineering in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics / Telecommunication from a college / university / institute recognized by the Govt.Of India and should be in the Second Year in the session 2004-2005. Those who have successfully completed the 1st year degree course in 2003-04 in the first attempt – only need apply.They should not be receiving any funancial aid or assistance from any source.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT – The scholarship is admissible from the second year till the final year subject to the condition that the student meets the minimum qualifying criterion for success in each year. The rate of scholarship is Rs.1000/- P.M. . Total 25 scholarships will be granted ( 14 SC, 06 ST and 05 PC )

Ph.D. in NEUROSCIENCE

Eligibility : Masters degree in any branch of science related to the general area of Neurosciences / Brain Research with consistent good academic record. Candidates from diverse backgrounds that include, but not limited to , varioous disciplines of Biological Sciences, Physical , Mathematical, Computer Sciences & Psychology will be considered or M.B.B.S. / B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech / M.Pharma or equivalent with consistent good academic record.

M.Sc., in NEUROSCIENCE

Ph.D. course work will be waived for NBRC M.Sc ( Neuroscience ) graduates who join the Ph.D programme.

POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

Eligibility: A Ph.D degree in any branch of science or in any subject related to the general area of Neurosciences ( e.g. Psychology).

Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for an interview to be held in May. Train fare for second class sleeper from the nearest railway station will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview on production of tickets. Selection of shortlisted candidates will be based on performance in the interview. Decision of the screening / selection committee will be final and no correspondence will be entertained.

MAHINDRA ALL INDIA TALENT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DIPLOMA COURSES IN POLYTECHNIS 2005

K.C.Mahindra Education Trust, Mumbai invites applications for Mahindra All India Talent Scholarships from students who have passed Std.X or Std.XII and have secured admissions this year in Government or recognised polytechnics for Diploma courses. Preference will be given to girl students,children from lower income group families, disabled children and children of armed forces personnel.

Scholarships of Rs.5,000/- per year for a maximum period of 3 academic years will be awarded to selected students, to enable them to pursue diploma courses for which they have secured admissions.

Students should apply at the address given below for an Application Form. Alongwith the application students should send a self-addressed envelope with Rs.6/- stamps affixed. This should reach us before July 18, 2005.

Junior Research Fellows

The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer and the Tata Memorial Hospital, which are affiliated to the University of Mumbai for PhD programmes, are engaged in research on different aspects of cancer biology including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, metastasis, tumour immunology, immunotherapy, virology, chemotherapy, chemical carcinogenesis, tobacco carcinogenesis, gene therapy in animal models, tumour markers and global profiling of tumour tissue using proteomics and genomics, microbiology, biochemistry and medical physics.

Applications are invited in the prescribed format for Junior research fellowships.

Qualifications : MSc in Applied Biology/ Zoology/ Biophysics/ Life sciences/ Molecular biology/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology or MBBS / MVSc / M Pharm with not less than 55 per cent aggregate marks from a recognised university.

Stipend : Rs 8,000 per month + HRA as applicable.

Candidates who have appeared for their MSc/MBBS/ M Pharm final in 2003 and those appearing in 2004 may only apply.

Hostel facilities are available on a first come first serve basis at the ACTREC campus.

An ‘objective type’ written examination will be held on Sunday, July 25, at 10.00 am at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Technology, Opp Kharghar Station, Sector No 7, Belpada, CBD, Navi Mumbai — 400 614. The names of candidates selected for the written test will be announced on the ACTREC Web site. Candidates qualifying in the written examination will be interviewed from Tuesday, July 27 at the centre.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund offers Scholarships for duration of upto 2 years to the following categories of candidates :

I. Indian Nationals for Ph.D studies in India

II. Indian Nationals for visit to another Asian country for collection of materials for their Ph.D studies in India

III. Nationals of other Asain countries for Ph.D studies in India

Eligibility conditios for candidates are:

i ) Should possess Post Graduate degree in First Class.

ii ) Should not be above 35 years of age.

iii ) Should be full-time Ph.D Scholar ( Part-time Scholars in Category II above are eligible to apply )

iv ) Should already be registered for Ph.D Degree at an Indian University / Institution at the time of making the application for Scholarship.

Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered, are not eligible to apply.

Broad subjects of study to :

1. Science and Technology as an integral component of economic and social activity, including the Philosophy of Sience.

2. Comparative Studies in Religion and Culture

3. International Relations and Constitutional Studies.

The Scholarship amount admissible to selected candidates in Category I and III will include Rs.6000/- per month as maintenence allowance, Rs.10,000/- per annum as contingency expenses includiing travel expenses and actual tution fee for studies in India. In case of candidates in Category II, the scholarship will in include maintenance allowance, actual fee or other charges and airfare for visit to the concerned Asain country and back.
